Freeport community services

"Freeport Community Services is a community-run, community-based organization that coordinates programs and supplies a handful of direct services to our neighbors in the towns of Freeport and Pownal, Maine. Services include a Food Pantry with essential and emergency supplies for our neighbors who need it."

Freeport community backpack program

"Teachers and school staff across the state are finding that too often, Monday morning comes and they are forced to compete against hunger for the attention of their students. The Freeport Community Backpack Program provides children in need of food assistance with nutritious, easy-to-prepare food during weekends, throughout the school year."

The port teen center

"The PORT, located in the basement of Freeport Community Services (53 Depot St, Freeport) is a youth-driven teen center which provides a safe, enriching, and dynamic atmosphere for area teenagers. We provide a place in which teens can explore new ideas, new skills, and new friendships. The PORT strives to provide a hip, chem-free alternative in the social life of teenagers, and offers educational opportunities to expand their intellectual, emotional, and physical lives."

Casco bay can

"Casco Bay CAN is a Coalition of dedicated community members representing all 12 Drug-Free Community sectors: businesses, media, schools, youth-serving organizations, law enforcement, parents, youth, religious and fraternal organizations, civic and volunteer groups, healthcare professionals, state and local government, and other organizations involved in reducing youth substance abuse. The Casco Bay CAN service area is: Cumberland, Falmouth, Freeport, Gray, New Gloucester, North Yarmouth, Yarmouth and Pownal."

midcoast hunger prevention program

"MCHPP served its first meal in 1983 out of the basement of a local church. Over the next few decades, the support of MCHPP grew and the client base continued to increase. In February of 1995 we received our 501(c)(3) status, and in 2003 we built our current facility. Over the years we have added programs and increased service hours to continue meeting the growing need we have seen in the community. We now offer nine different programs out of our building in Brunswick, some of which have satellite locations throughout the mid coast region."

the gathering place
